Privacy Policy

ChatBridge is a Chrome extension that extracts the text of your conversations from Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, so you can copy, export, or continue them on another AI. This policy explains what data ChatBridge interacts with — and just as importantly, what it does not do.

What data ChatBridge accesses

When you click the ChatBridge icon on a supported page (claude.ai, chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, or gemini.google.com), the extension reads the conversation text that is already visible on that page — message content, sender role (you vs. the AI), and the page title.

This is the only data ChatBridge ever touches, and it is limited to the four domains listed above. ChatBridge cannot see or access any other tab, website, or content on your device.

What ChatBridge does with that data

Displays it in the extension popup so you can preview it
Copies it to your clipboard if you click "Copy all"
Saves it to a local .txt or .md file if you click "Download"
Builds a "handoff prompt" locally if you use the "Continue elsewhere" feature, then copies it to your clipboard and opens a new tab for the AI you chose

All of this happens entirely inside your browser, using your device's own memory and clipboard.

What ChatBridge does NOT do

Does not send, transmit, upload, or sync any data to any server, database, or third party
Does not use any external APIs, analytics, or tracking services
Does not store data outside your current browser session — nothing persists after you close the popup or the tab
Does not collect personally identifiable information, authentication credentials, payment information, health information, location data, browsing history, or activity/keystroke data
Does not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties, advertisers, or data brokers
Does not use your data for advertising, credit scoring, lending decisions, or any purpose beyond the single purpose described above

Permissions explained

Permission	Why ChatBridge needs it
`activeTab`	To read the conversation on the tab you're currently viewing, only when you click the extension icon
`scripting`	To run the content script that reads the visible chat text on supported sites
`downloads`	To let you save an extracted conversation as a local file when you click a download button
Host access	`claude.ai`, `chatgpt.com`, `chat.openai.com`, `gemini.google.com` — limits where the extension can read content to only these four chat sites

Data retention

ChatBridge does not retain any data. Once you close the popup, the extracted conversation is gone from the extension's memory. Nothing is written to disk except the files you explicitly choose to download.

Children's privacy

ChatBridge does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect or transmit data at all.

Changes to this policy

If ChatBridge's functionality changes in a way that affects data handling, this policy will be updated and the effective date above will be revised accordingly.
